February Half Term, 2022 -- Club Report
We had a good Half Term week with around 60 children which was down a bit on 2020. The weather was good, with a day of powder and escaped the storms that hit UK with only one day, Thursday, of very high winds which thankfully did not close the Lifts/
Our warm Race Day (Download the Open Race results here) gave us a soft piste making racing anything but easy and noticeably slower times than in previous years with small mistakes, as some discovered, becoming very time costly. Despite the soft track, there were some excellent results especially when ages are considered. So well done Izzy Arthur and Adam Griffin our fastest girl and boy and our Class winners Jack Harper-Hill, Olly Arthur, Amy-Rose Edginton, Romilly Clarke, Charlotte Nichols and Jess Eede As well as the very good race results, we were pleased to see how all the children improved during the week and a huge thank you to all our instructors for making this happen. Our Overall Most Improved girl was Freya Johnson and boy Jake Horsley and the other class Most improved were Bertie Lucas, Olivia Galbraith, Imogen Hilleary, Fred Lockie, and Mia Purvis. A special well done to Freddee and Lara's classes, our youngsters, who completed the lower, more technical part of the course so well.
Our thanks to Team Gerhard for keeping the piste raceable by continual sweeping of the race course
We still had to cope with some covid restrictions, which have since been eased further but our options for prize were very limited for gatherings of over 50. We settled for a picnic by the Finish Hut and were lucky with the weather.
A good week thanks to the wonderful Alpbach Team and of course Stewart, Lucy and Joey.
