Easter Training and Club week, Easter 2014
We had a good week averaging 63
children each day. We had very sunny conditions for the week, with the
rain forecast for Friday holding off until Saturday evening.
In view of the very warm conditions, the decision was taken to meet at 0900 each morning after day one to get the best of the snow, finishing at 1415-1430 each day; it was a good decision with the snow becoming soft later in the day.
2014 saw disappointing snow in the Tirol but what there was, was well maintained by the Lift Company and the pistes held up well in the conditions – the slopes were very empty with no queues during the week.
A team of 10 good instructors were led by Tweety and included Kate and Olivia both ex AVSC and now qualified instructors with their anwärter qualification. The instructors and children both worked hard and it was pleasing to see good improvement from all the children in the week.
The end of week race, held on Red 47 finished at the Ast and produced some excellent results, especially when age and experience is taken into consideration.
Congratulations to our overall champions Bea Hopkins and Archie Macfarlane and to our Most Improved class nominees Jack Falconer, Lucy Wisher, Olivia Burgess, Theo Taylor, Harry Stroud, Alex Taylor, Amelia Bond and our Most Improved Girl and Boy, Rosie Jephson and Thomas Lindsay.
The Easter Open Race was held on the same course immediately after the AVSC end of week race again producing some excellent times. Our ex AVSC trainees did really well, more than holding their own against some serious competition. Some parents managed to pip their children by the tightest of margins so the Open Race in 2015 will be interesting.
Our thanks go to The Alpbach Ski School, all the children and all the parents for their continued support.
We look forward to seeing you all again in 2015.
