The AVSC 50th anniversary
Our 50th week in Alpbach. For our grand celebratory week in Alpbach in April, we even had the Snow Gods on side with the best snow for a decade. The week ran alongside our Easter training week for the children. It was really good to welcome back so many old friends who returned to Alpbach to help us celebrate this milestone. The week started with our informal drinks for parents and children on Sunday evening after the first day’s skiing but really got underway on Monday with our Tyrolean Evening for Club members. We packed 120 into the Inneralpbach Festhütte for a memorable evening of music food and merriment. On Wednesday it had been our intention to hold a reception in the Congress Hall for “the friends of AVSC” giving the Club the opportunity to thank the Village for their support over 50 years. Alpbach would have none of this and insisted on making a major contribution to the evening. There were speeches from the Bürgermeister, the Chairman of the Tourist Board and a response from AVSC, presentations to AVSC , generous quantities of food and the Village Brass Band; it was another memorable evening, reminding us all of the strong bonds we have to this day with this so special Village. On Friday, we finished with our end of week races for the children and then an Open Race on the same course with 100 starters and a joint prize giving in the evening.
