The AVSC 2019/2020 Winter Season Review
The Alpbach season was brought to an abrupt close on March 15th due to a Tirol wide coronavirus lockdown, resulting in the cancellation of our Easter training week.
We hope you, your families and all our friends in Alpbach remain well and look forward to returning to normality in 2021.

Our Adult Racers had a successful year with two separate Gold Awards!
From 30 January to 2 February our Alpbach Alstars competed against 11 other teams in the inaugural AJ Bell Courmayeur Challenge, a multi discipline two day event. Jenny Ferguson, Miranda Gillot, Richard Gower and Johnny Harris stormed to the gold spot on the last day. Read more. This was followed in March at the Amateur Inter-Club Championships in Flaine where our over 60s team of Jorge Bocca, Pablo, Ettinger, Johnny Ferguson and Richard Gower made a clean sweep winning both the GS and Super-G. Well done them!

AVSC Half Term Junior training Week
A full week with 85 Children. The snow was good, the weather kind and Race Day had good visibility despite a dire forecast. There were 75 starters in the AVSC races, 20 from Ski Team Telford and 31 starters in the Open Race. There are some interesting results when ages are factored in! The annual AVSC Club Weekend While assembling on our first evening, we heard that due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the Lifts would close on Sunday evening and all guest accommodation on Monday. Despite several weekenders pulling out early, we had a full weekend, starting on Thursday, with registration in the Jak followed by dinner in the Zirmalm, a parallel slalom above the Hornboden on Friday afternoon and the Open Race on Saturday followed by a prizegiving lunch in the Böglalm, then a few drinks at Joe’s Salettl before dinner for about 60 in the Jak. We are grateful once again to Conny’s Sport for their generous sponsorship and to Alpbach Ski School and the Albach Ski Club for organising the parallel Slalom and the Open Race Looking ahead to next season...
