Alpbach Visitors Ski Club

A skiing and social club which is an integral part of the village of Alpbach.

The AVSC offers Junior Training and Adult Racing programmes. The focus is on Ski Training Weeks for the Junior membership during which we offer ski instruction and racing to a higher standard than is usually provided by ski schools. The Club also organises races for all age groups at Christmas, in Febuary and at Easter as well as during the Club Weekend in early March.

In addition to the training and racing programmes, there is a strong social aspect to the Club. We provide a unique year round connection to the village of Alpbach and organise social events throughout the season for Club members.

The AVSC was founded in 1968 by Major Billy Patterson as a club to develop junior racing for British children. It is a non-profit making organisation which puts any surplus back into the club programme. Club members develop this programme, run the local administration and maintain a valuable connection with Alpbach throughout the year. 

09/04/2012 - Easter Junior training week is over!

After an excellent week of off piste and racing, the sixty-five junior skiers who took part in the week concluded the week with a race on the Molden slope. Despite a tricky course, caused by challenging conditions, everyone did extremely well. A special well done to our Junior club champions Immy Adams  and Matthew Mason who both finished top for fastest girl and fastest boy. Full summary of the week, and race results, click Here.

17/02/2012- Half term Junior Training Week is a roaring success!

The February half-term training week (for 8-18 yr olds) was a great success, concluded fantastically by a club race with record numbers and fantastic snow, it finished with a club race. Photos here. 

06/02/2012- AVSC Trainees compete in the British Schoolboys Races

James Ferguson, Tommy Ferguson, James Mason and Matt Mason all competed in the British Schoolboy's Ski Races in Meiringen, Switzerland. The boys finished with respectable, top 10 rankings in their corresponding age and unregistered categories. The event was managed by DHO (Downhill Only) which hosted over 150 competitors from schools across the country.
