Junior Training Week - Easter 2012
The week took place from 1st - 7th April 2012. With over sixty-five children of ages 8-18 taking part, there were many memorable highlights.
Throughout the week, the top groups were taken to the well-known off piste route, the Greitalm. This is an amazing piece of skiing for anyone to complete. This would not however, have been a possibility if it weren't for "Tweetie" and Gerhard, two fully qualified guides/instructors, who ably led the groups to some amazing spring snow.
The course selected for the AVSC end of week and Open Race was badly damaged by rain on Thursday night and Friday morning. The only alternative was to move the race to the Kohlgruben Lift and run the children down Red 13. We know many parents and friends were bitterly disappointed that we had to cancel the Open Race but the course for the AVSC children would not have stood up to the additional Open Race Entries. We thank all those who donated their entry fees to the Club.
It was good to see the children put what they had learnt during the week to good use by skiing this challenging course really well. There were some excellent results taking into account the age and lack of experience of some of the children, while others were punished by a small mistake or lack of concentration with times that did not reflect their skills on the rest of the course. Well done to all of them!
